We are committed to providing a high-quality, enjoyable, and safe experience for all our guests. To ensure a smooth and respectful, and inclusive tour for everyone, we ask that all participants adhere to the following code of conduct. These guidelines help protect our guests, staff, venues, and the integrity of our tours.
By booking and participating in a tour with us, you agree to comply with the following:
1. Responsible Behaviour & Alcohol Consumption
Our tours are designed for the responsible enjoyment of wine, beer, and good company. Please drink in moderation and be considerate of others throughout the day. Water is provided at winery cellar door stops throughout the day, but we also recommend bringing your own bottle of water for the van ride.
Aggressive, disruptive, or disrespectful behaviour—toward fellow guests, tour guides, or winery cellar door teams—will not be tolerated. Tastings may be refused to any guest showing signs of intoxication.
2. Respect for Guides & Group Experience
Our tour guides work hard to make your day seamless and enjoyable. All safety instructions provided by your tour guide must be followed at all times. Please be punctual, and help keep the group experience running smoothly and safely.
3. Child Safety – Car Seat Requirements
As per NZ law, all children under 7 years must be secured in an approved child restraint, such as a car seat or booster seat (which you must supply). Children aged 7+ must be seated safely with a seatbelt.
No child restraint = no tour!
4. Dress & Footwear
Closed-toe shoes (ideally no heels) are required for behind-the-scenes winery visits. Please dress comfortably and be prepared for the weather conditions on the day.
5. Identification & Alcohol Laws
If you appear under 25, you will be asked to show valid photo ID (e.g. driver’s licence or passport).
No alcohol will be served or sold to anyone under the age of 18—this is New Zealand law and is strictly enforced by us and our winery cellar doors.
6. Feeling Unwell?
Please be considerate. If you have cold or flu symptoms, we ask that you reschedule or cancel your booking to help protect the wellbeing of other guests and tour guides.
7. Right to Remove Guests
Hop ‘n Grape Tours reserves the right to return any guest to their accommodation or another safe location at any point during the tour if they fail to comply with this policy.
No refund will be issued to guests removed due to behavioural concerns or breaches of conduct.
Thank you for touring with Hop ‘n Grape Tours.
